How to get MPGH Public Hack to work for Vista users

Your probably having trouble getting CA to start even if you have removed these hacks. SO UNINSTALL CA AND REINSTALL. AFTER YOU HAVE REINSTALLED FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS. IT WILL WORK.

If you have Vista listen very carefully... to get this to werk you must go to you control panel and click UAC *user account* then what you want to do is click on turn user account control on or off, click it and uncheck the lil box. Ok now it's going to prompt you to restart, don't do it.

Now what you want to do is go back to the control panel and click on system. Scroll down to were it says *Computer name, domain and work group settings* and click change settings.

Now a little menu should cum up, click advanced and under performance click settings.

Ok now another menu will cum up and what you want to do is click Data Execution Prevention, DEP for short. Click turn on DEP for all programs and services except those that I select. Click add and browse your combat arms folder and select CombatArms.exe and add it.

Make sure CombatArms.exe is checked after you add it and hit apply. Now it is going to prompt you to restart again, don't. Now extract MPGH files into the CA folder. YAY! You can restart your comp now and after just start CA normally, obviously you won't be prompted when you do start it

Doctor this up and move it to the Help section.

Vista users need to update to Service Pack 2 and disable UAC.(Start, Control Panel, User Accounts, User Accounts again, Turn User Account Control On Or Off)

Things to check for:

DirectX version
Service Pack #
32 or 64 bit system
Followed the hack thread instructions completely

Did it work for you? I posted this in the CA general section after I realized this was the wrong section.

Earlier today I just followed Dave's post. But this does indeed work. Instead of recreating the thread in another section just ask staff to move it next time.

Actually I didn't/can't move it. You could say I'm informally nominated to become a Minion but I'm not one yet. Just shoot a note on over to a Mod and they'll go ahead and do that for you.
