Obama's Sig Tutorial - Energy
Welcome to An Energy Tutorial
Hey guys. Well i've had a few requests for this tutorial now, so i'd thought i would take you through the basic steps on how to create something similar. Be patient and take your time.
1

Ok so first off you want to create a new document (500x500) and place in your stock/render. A drawing works well with this.
2

Grab a scanline brush, or any brush. You should always have brushes, if you don't google some and stock up.
3

Duplicate the scanline a few times and rotate like shown. Then merge these to one layer.
4

Duplicate the brushed layer and roate and place it on the other side.
5

Add in a C4D. Again you should download loads of C4Ds if you don't have any. Just google "C4D packs". Place one in behind the stock and erase the left side.
6

I then got the C4D again. Rotated it and placed it on the left side. Erasing any unwanted bits.
7

Got the C4D and placed it once more behind the stock, this time at the bottom to start to blend in the stock.
8

To blend the stock in more, i duplicated our brush layer form earlier and placed it underneth.
9

Now the idea of this tutorial is to build up layer so we don't see any white coming through and the focal blends right in. Here i made a grey rectangle and lowered its opactity. You can see the difference in the bottom right.
10

Now with a large black soft brush, on a new layer behind everything, just brushed from the center and lower the opacity. This is again to darken it and get rid of more white space.
11

This light here is from a bubble C4D. Don't resize the C4d, insted place in the document and set its mode to linear-dodge, this will ignore the black in the C4D. then erase the C4D until you are left with a single bubble to create some lighting. With lighting you should always think about where you place it and make sure it looks natural.
12

Now he i noticed that his hat was cut off from the stock so i added in a white rectangle. I then got the same C4D, and erase to leave lighting at the top. Again set this layer to linear dodge.
13

The orange bit here is from a fractal brush set to orange. I brushed once behind the C4Ds. This orange is to make it more colourfull. Always choose colours near each other in the colour wheel so they compliment each other.
14

Here i wanted to blend the stock in more so i added a photo filter, with a warm orange colour at 25%
15

I felt i wanted to emphisise the lighting and darken dark bits. A good way to do this is using a B/W gradient map. On this one i set it to soft light at 75%.
16

Add in your text and your done! Remember when doing text it wants to compliment the image. here for example, the image is bold so i wanted a bold text so it stood out. Take your time with text as it will make or break your sig
.Hope you learned something. This is only a beginner/novice tutorial, so i hope it was understandable enough
.Thanks, please post outcomes

WHEN DOING TUTORIALS, DO NOT STICK TO WHAT THE TUTORIAL USES. MIX THINGS UP. USE DIFFERENT RENDERS, COLOURS AND STYLES - TO MAKE YOUR SIG UNIQUE.
Usefull PS tips:
- Increase your history states in preferences. it is annoying when you run out.
- Like i said earlier, download loads of stocks, brushes, effects and C4Ds so you always have something to use.
- Masks help with mistakes aswell. (refer to my SWF tutorials for how to use masks).
I can't think of anymore atm. Happy PS'in
+ rep, thanks as always is appreciated
