Well, you said you have experience in VB so I think you'd understand C++ more than complete beginners. Cheapest way is learning from the internet of course, it's free.
Here's a link to some good videos:

OK, Lately I haven't been on the computer, That really doesn't matter because some of you, well MOST of you, don't know who i am.
I've been doing Some vB and i think i almost got it masted, But I want to Look into c++ coding now, And i need a book that can teach me, ANY CRACKED BOOK would be helpful, I'd rather not Buy any E-Book, But if You can give me some names of some books that could help alot, I PREFER you guys refering me to some Youtube vids, or some little 10 minute Vid, leading to another one....
So if any of you guys can help me, i would be oh so happy.
Lets just put it this way, i want the cheapest way to learn c++

Do either one of those two, there's C++ Primer Plus, if you can find the eBook. If not, inbox me, I'll find it for you somehow. Other than that, it's pretty much AntiRTFM(I think that's his name) on youtube.
Do the work, and ask questions as you go.
Ah we-a blaze the fyah, make it bun dem!
Do you have something against VB?Unfortunatly, people who learned VB lose their sence of using correct syntax and will rip their eyeballs out when they get 1 error per line stating they forgot the ';'. Either that will happen or they get depressed and go back 2 VB
Everytime I try VB I always accidently put ';' at the end of each line.
It's becoming a habit to just press ; at the end of a line.
i think your best off to learn basic C++ and use VB, but if you really want and have the patients and time learn advanced C++, and read some books and go to the public library they always got books for everything, but my personal opinion about reading books is fuck the books because i don't have the patients but depends on you
i recommend following this guy if you want to go the cheapest way:

*cough*VB rage*swine flu*
Meh, lol. Just boredom, and sharing interests. Typical day on MPGH.
I <3 u crushed =D You should rage in the VB section with me, its alot of fun and if you just let em know you have a massive e-penis and that the C++ section is your friend, they will not ban you for longer then a day or two
Ah we-a blaze the fyah, make it bun dem!
Going from vb to c++ is like not getting an abortion when you're pregnant at 16. You can do it, but you'll be fucked.
No really though, trying to learn c++ is where most vb users kill themselves.

t7ancients should also get a godly tag why, you should allow t7 to flame all VBfags too kthx
Ah we-a blaze the fyah, make it bun dem!
Well technically I never even said you could flame VB. I said you could flame any nub that rears is ugly head. Yeh... I'm pretty sure I said it like that. =/
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."- Dwight D. Eisenhower
