WHY DOES EVERYONE LIKE JAVA?
I hear people so oh Java is the best langue just because its multi platform.

WELL HERE IS WHAT I GOT TO SAY. Saying that Java is nice because it works on every OS is like saying that anal sex is nice because it works on every gender.

Spam basically. Anyways. It's not just because the cross OS compatibility. It's object-oriented, and the Java language has only like 50 keywords, but the Java API has several thousand classes — with tens of thousands of methods you can use in your programs.

Not spam lol, just his opinion. Well Java can be used on different platforms which is a plus, but I like C# better because designing GUI is a lot easier. People with Mac can just use Wine also.
You may want to check out an Eclipse plugin called WindowBuilder. You add that in, you can now design and code GUI's for both languages, since C# and Java's syntax is very similar.

Java is my favourite programming language, but actually that's not the real point why many people like it. It has a beautiful syntax, nice standard library, good support for concurrency, awesome jvm, ... it's still better than C++, which is the most ugly language I saw (ideally).

mmm... There is Mono, but simulating a .net environment on *nix systems is a bit bad.
IMHO .NET is the draft of Java.
p.s: Microsoft already released the .net core, they are going to release .net runtimes for linux/mac.
It's the "most" popular language. It is also fairly simple to learn. More complex than Python but less harder than C++.

I had to learn Python in a call once, really, really, disliked the syntax. Though personally I prefer C# to Java, but obviously both are easier to learn than C++ lol.
anal sex is good doe

when u bring up the thread back to talk about anal sex lmao
It's about more than just the language, its about the ecosystem. It's a huge language, people "liking" it or not is irrelevant when so much is built in it. Same with many, many, languages.
Java is just a good coding/programming language to start with. It is in the middle, not to hard or easy to learn and is universal. Java can be used for so much that's why it is so versatile and can translate /be the gateway to learning other languages.
I never thought i would be able to code but i started learning it in uni. After 3 months i can do some stuff (Nothing thats on acceptable level yet) and i think im doing good progress. Also i was told that once i learn how to code in java; it will be super easy to learn other languages.
Java like a gateway drug, once you start you can go into some harder programming like c++
I feel like Python is better than Java, which is why I really want to use Python more, but Java is like, the main stream language. Everything is programmed using Java, so I feel like Java is more useful to learn than Python.

But in the back of my head, I still feel like Python could be better to program with...
Java
Python is cancer. It's slow as f*uck and the syntax is not better.
Java is a common and good programming language for the most of the projects. The jvm of the current version is high optimises and very fast.
Java can be fast, if you know how to efficiently program.
