Hey all,
I currently have a 980ti in my setup but don't really like it.
It is very loud even with a custom fan speed regulation. Heat is not really a problem but the fans are loud even at lower rpms.
So I thought about up/sidegrading to a 1080 which, regarding some Sites, is equally powerfull.
My Questions: 1) Is the 1080 less loud?
2) Which Manufacturer would you recommend?
3) Are the two cards really equal in power?
Thanks a lot for your help!

1-) It depends on the model you decided, there are many versions such as 2 or 3 fan, OC edition and else. And it also depends on how you use it, conditions.
2-) I would say you to choose according to your motherboard.
3-) There are different features, but the performance won't change much.
I suggest you RTX, new generation. It'll be better, ıf your processor can afford it.

Thanks for the info, will watch it.
I dont think my CPU can support a RTX as i have a I7 3770k
Maybe I will update my CPU beforehand.
Thanks again

At what resolution are you playing at? Anything under 4K and the performance increase on the 980 ti will be minimal, plus driver support is really poor. As for the "bottleneck" it would be fine at higher resolutions such as 4K etc.
All in all though you better off with the single better GPU, in this case the 1080 ti.

1080 is a good choice but all the RTX are the future
I would get the 1080.. it's pretty quiet and only gets a little bit loud on stressed out games where your graphic card is burning
They're both good cards but both are from different generations, 1080 has highre clockspeeds and faster processing per mhz so prolly pick the 1080?
I don't see the point of replacing your 980ti when there would be minimal difference.
Money is better spent on something else (like building your 2nd rig etc)
1080 is a nice upgrade with good graphics, not so quiet but better then 980t
its time to get a 2070 instead of a 1080....
