Posting in this thread to keep track on it as it's something I am facing myself on a daily basis!
Consumerism is the common problem of today's society. In order to get rid of this habit, I recommend you to go to a job that you can really love.
I see this thread is still being read, so here's an update.
I had written this thread in 2020. Since then, I have traveled for 3 months in norway. Initially I was looking for a job there but did not find anything.
It didn't prevent me from enjoying my travel in this nice country and meeting people and making a new friend.
I came back to my country, have found an amazing job in an international company where I speak 2 languages daily, with friendly colleagues and a high wage
(which makes me rich on the tax administration's standards), and on my free time, I'm actively studying russian. I had already studied it for 5 years, but had done a break, but I'm back at it and I read an Agatha Christie book in russian (and save the unknown & most useful vocab to learn them).
I also do sport: nordic walking and daily long hikes up mountains (where I go once per month, as I have to drive 2h30 to get there). I'm also strenghtening the muscles I don't train enough with walking, with some body building exercises. When I'm on holidays (5 weeks per year), I usually travel, especially to the Alps to see incredible landscapes and do sports.
I still play video games, watch youtube videos & series from time to time, but it's more rare now as I have more busy days. I hope this thread can be an inspiration for you guys.
