How to Capture Cod4 Gameplay using Demos
Hello MPGH.
I am going to teach you how to use the demo capability built into call of duty 4. This is easily the best method of recording your call of duty 4 gameplay, as it serves no loss to your frame rate, takes up LITTLE hard drive space, is built into the game, and can hide your hacks
Quality you will have:
Creating Demos
1. Go into Cod4, play a game
2. Bring up the console by pressing (~) button above the Tab button.
3. type /record
4. then play.
5. When you want to stop recording, press the (~) button again
6. Type /stoprecord
7. Now you have a demo.
Using Cod4Player to open a demo
1. Download Cod4 Player
2. Extract it to where ever.
3. Run cod4player.exe
4. It will ask for your iw3mp.exe, just find it and your
5. Now you must browse for the demo you just recorded.
Cracked Cod4 users:
1. Just go to your cod4 directory, then main -> demos ->
2. Open your demo.
Regular Cod4 Users
1. Browse to C -> Users ->Your name-> App Data -> Local -> Virtual Store -> Program Files -> Activision -> Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare -> main -> demos -> .
Now that you know the locations, browse and open an demo.
Recording Demos with Avidemo
1. Now your demo should be playing.
2. When the part comes up that you want to record, hit the (~) button and type /cl_avidemo 120
3. It will now appear laggy because it is taking 120 screenshots per second (equivalent of 120 frames per second)
4. It will record your clip, and hit the (~) button and type /cl_avidemo 0 when you want it to stop recording
Turning avidemo screenshots into an avi using Virtual Dub
1. Download Virtual Dub & the lagarith codec(download the one pertaining to your operating system)
2. Install the Lagarith codec normally, and then find your virtual dub.rar file.
2. Unzip virtual dub to wherever. (remember the location, you will need it later)
3. Browse for your screenshots by going to file -> open video file
For Cracked Cod4 Users
Go to your cod4 directory -> Mods -> modwarfare -> screenshots
For Regular Cod4 Users
Go to C -> Program Files -> Activision -> call of duty 4 modern warfare -> mods -> ModWarfare -> screenshots
Mine is empty, because i record using cracked .
Now you know where your screenshots are, browse and select the first one.
It will now show the first screenshot in the sequence you recorded.
Go to the video tab -> compression and set it to lagarith lossless codec then click ok.
Then click on the frame rate button in the video tab. Click change frame rate to: and type 120.
Then go to file -> save as avi -> and save it to wherever you want.
Now that you have your video, you can put it into any editing program to use in a montage, edit, or simply to render it.
