Switching From AlterIWNet to Steam

Hello, This is my first tutorial and it is about how to switch from
AlterIWNet to the Steam version of Modern Warfare 2.


Requirements

If You installed Alter to Your Steam Directory

If You have installed AlterIWNet to your Modern Warfare 2 Steam Folder
(C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2)
, The first step is to delete the file named iw4mp.exe.
This is the AlterIWNet version of it and is the vital thing between Steam and AlterIWNet.

The next step is to log into your Steam account that is registered with Modern Warfare 2.
Once You have logged in, head straight over to the Games Library
and locate the game named Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer.
Right click on this and click on Properties found at the bottom of the list.
When the Pop-up comes up scroll along the top until the 3rd tab named Local Files,
open up this tab and the 3rd option you may pick is called
Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Simply Click on it and wait a while (depending on your Internet Connection)
as it will check your Modern Warfare 2's Files and download and install any missing ones,
in this case the iw4mp.exe file.

Once it says that 1 or more files failed to validate and will be reacquired,
It means that it has successfully downloaded the Steam version of Modern Warfare 2
and can now be played through the Steam client or from the iw4mp.exe!


If You Installed Alter Seperately

If You copied all of your Modern Warfare 2's Files into a seperate Folder
and then installed AlterIWNet to it then switching back to Steam is very simple.
when You launch Modern Warfare 2 from the Steam client or from the Steam version
of iw4mp.exe, it will load the Steam version of Modern Warfare 2
and will only load and use the files in your Steam directory so having a seperate folder
with AlterIWNet will mean you simply have to use the other iw4mp.exe and when
adding mods and other features, just add them to the directory of Steam or AlterIWNet.
