Alen should be able to give you a better advice, but I believe this would be worth the money:

Processor: Intel i5 2500K
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
CPU Coolers: Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B
Videocard: 2x 2x AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB
Harddisks/SSD's: Intel SSD 311 20GB (SATA)
Harddisks/SSD's: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (SATA3)
PSU: Corsair Professional AX750 750W

That would be around €1250-€1300 ($1735-$1800), keeping in mind you may have to purchase accessories with it (PC case, keyboard, mouse, headset etc)

I believe you're trolling. I got an i7 2600 3.4 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GT 450, 2TB HDD and 12GB DDR3 RAM for 1200$. Plus with a 23'' Dell monitor and default Dell keyboard and mouse. Speakers 20$.

But again, Croatia has lower prices so...

I was going to add he could upgrade to a i7 when he didn't need new accessories with it.
I believe my advice is decent, and I found the prices on various Dutch websites

WTF!? You don't buy a custom rig PC from dutch sites!? This is a job for Dell.com bitch! I got 400$ discount on the final price and it arrived in 3 days.

Do you even get the meaning of a 'custom built PC'?
The idea is that you purchase parts, and build it.
Definetely not from Dell.com ...

You spent $1200 on your custom PC and purchased a GeForce GT 450?
