Nissan 350z is my favorite car. Take it!
So At around November/December I'll be purchasing a new car (cash). Now I have three options. I need help to decide which will be most suitable for me. I will also be giving the car an aftermarket body and modifying the interior a little bit (going for a clean JDM look) then finishing off with a nice solid colour respray. Note that all these cars are in my price range, so don't worry about that.
A few things to consider:
- rarity (in AU)
- aesthetics
- practicality (2 seater vs 4 seater)
- drive (rear vs front)
- parts (availability of OEM and aftermarket/JDM)
Option 1
Honda S2000 (AP1) - 2 seater RWD
Option 2
Honda Civic Type R (FN2) - 4 seater FWD
Option 3
Nissan 350Z (Coupe) - 2 Seater RWD
Nissan 350z is my favorite car. Take it!
Depends how many Need for Speed tokens you got there.
I do believe the first one comes with extra boost. .

I think the Honda is to normal. Nissan 350z or Honda S2000.
Btw what are you doing for living? I wish I could afford a car like this too in the future
Not into Commodores? Any who for an Import car I would go with the S2000 overall, Rarely see them on the road.

But the third one gets me extra drifts points
That's what I'm leaning towards but the Civic is a four seater so I'd be able to sell my current car. If I get a two seater than I would be maintaining 2 cars with 2 lots of registration and insurance costs.
I'm a Systems Admin/Support Engineer for Animal Logic.
Already got a Falcon, and Commodores don't really suit my personality plus they're far too abused in Western Sydney. Every second P plater has a VY/VX Berlina
Hmm. The extra drift points are great, but only if you have good handling and drifting. Along with your own PERSONAL drifting skills.

The Nissan looks rather good.
I'd go for it if those were my choices in Vehicles.
Nissan 350Z , really awesome

The S2k is a pretty small car Shayne; I know you've had your eyes set on it for quite a long time and it'd be nice to complete those dreams and buy it
The new CTR is still pretty fresh; hence aftermarket support is pretty limited but has high end products. I'd still rather get an EK9 over the EP3 or the FN2.
I'm a Honda fan definitely; I'd prefer a Honda over other cars any day just because of how much I know about them, but lately i've been considering a Nissan 240sx Zenki or S13 fastback. (regarding the 350z or even a 370z, convertibles weigh more) The 350z is a good combination of the above choices; being a larger, yet still small interior from what I heard for it's huge comparable to the FN2 perhaps, and a rear wheel drive like the S2k. I don't know how wide the aftermarket support and the price of items for the 350z and the S2000, but I think they may be equal. Screw what these kids are saying, i'm sure they don't even know how to gas a car or change oil, drifting and racing or not it's all a matter of practicality, satisfaction, and efficiency. I've never heard horrible reviews of either of the three, but I know the S2k is very small, and if I remember you're around 6 feet tall and the FN2 is still pretty new so not all problems are worked out I believe..... I'm not too sure there, and the 350z has been out in the market for quite a long time and i'm sure has been played with much more than the two Hondas. I'd choose a 350z given the limited choice of these 3. 370z's are quite nice too, I think just a bigger engine (350=3.5, 370=3.7). I'm sure I had some run-on sentences here and there but hell to them; re-read if you have to i'm not going to edit anything. NO REGRETS

On the topic of hardtops for the s2k; I think i really like the Spoon hard top; makes it look like a mini-350z lol

See the size of the S2000 is what got me considering the 350Z. There's a S2000 owner where I work and he fits pretty snugly into it but he's only 5'6". If heard tales where owners have removed the seating rails and bought aftermarket bucket seats just to fit into the S2000. And I know a guy with a completely stock 350Z who is the same height as me and says he fits perfectly. As far aftermarket parts, they're roughly the same only difference is import (S2000) vs local (350Z) stock which isn't too much of an issue, it just means that parts for an S2000 will take longer to arrive.
But S2000's are also roughly $5K cheaper than a 350Z so those savings can go towards new seats, engine rebuild, and some quick modifications before I get my full licence.
The S2000 really is my dream car though and it'd be a shame to let go of that dream.
Edit: Yeah I was going to get a spoon hard top if I bought an S2000. Except I don't like the exaggerated lip on the end. But it's definitely less bubbly then standard hard tops.
Ah well there you go; you know more than any of us here at MPGH about what you want lol. Well I believe Turbo'ing a 350z is much easier than an S2000, because of space and the amount of trials and errors that have been done to Turbo 350'z.... turbo'ing a car and tuning it ain't easy or cheap ($1000-$3000+) But you a lot of power out of it; I know I can turbo my car right now if I had the money and experience and easily get 50-100HP just from the turbo on a factory engine. Anywho...... S2000 is a cute little thing and has a good power/weight ratio; it's a shame RWD vehicles are rare in Honda. Anyways, which car is more uncommon? I'd get it just to be an individual and when/if anything happens to my car, the community would know who's the owner and tracking it down/getting info on it would be much easier.
