$5.00 profit? minus the paypal taxes and the cost to put it up on ebay lol, u gotta be kidding me right?
Is anyone willing to sell accounts on eBay for us (for Helbreath)?
We are selling LVL 180 accounts for 100~130 bucks a piece.
To make it fair, we pay you 5 bucks every sale.
All you do is post the offers, and then once they send the money to our Paypal, we send them the account and password, and we send you 5 bucks later!
Easy way to make money, anyone wanna do it?
This is totally legit, we aren't gonna get you banned or anything.

Because you're selling their intellectual property, however you can get around that by selling your labor and effort for leveling the account.
Eh, NICE!
Anyone want to sell them for us?
If you do, we will cover the eBay expense, and you will get $3~$5 dollars.

I don't think your friend did it right, I did some googling, and it seems perfectly legal.
Maybe it just depends on the game.

Of course there will always be a auction up or two. eBay seems to not care as much anymore seeing as it pays (although a small amount) for some asian kids salary. Not seriously. They just get overwhelmed and don't get them all.
Before you beleieve any rumor you may hear, selling any account, game item, game currency, or whatever is stictly illegal. Why? In almost every game, if you look closely enough, it states clearly in it's ToS that selling thier property is against the law and is not allowed. Thus, it is not legal, and if caught you will most likely get banned. Plus, they alert the company, company traces your account, and before you know it all your accounts are gone too. It's as simple as that.
A big raid quite like that happened on Galaxies a long time ago. Several players lost huge amounts of illegal money without even knowing it was frauded.
My recommendation is to sell your accounts to the companies who specialize in selling them. That way, you still get money, yet you won't hear any shit if something bad happens. I would also recommend not buying accounts anyway, as you will probably login one day to find it suspended.
Thats my 2 monkeys, anways
You have to put at the bottom of the sell that they Belong to the company that runs the server and all the person is paying for is the time consumed to level the account and get the items.
"You are buying the time i spent leveling this account and characters the company "blah" owns "Game™" and you are only spending money on the time that i spent leveling this account"

As I said, even if you put that at the end, you will be banned if found. No selling things, as it says in thier ToS. That little line everyone uses doesn't mean anything.
