1. Subject/Title: Playing on a Mac
Guide:
Unfortunately, League of Legends is not officially supported on Mac OS at this time. We are aware of third party programs and modified versions of the client that previously allowed League of Legends to run on the Mac OS but, similar to other modifications to the client, we are not able to provide any support for such software.
We do understand the volume of players that own systems running Mac OS and appreciate all of the feedback we have received. Many of our Mac players, as well as some of us here at Riot, are currently using Boot Camp in order to run League of Legends.
For more information on running Boot Camp on your Mac OS, please feel free to navigate to Apple's knowledge base regarding Boot Camp on Mac OS:
Mac Basics: Using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp

2. Subject/Title: Bug Splat
Guide:
Bugsplat is the bug reporting system used by League of Legends to inform us of emerging issues. Bugsplat issues are typically caused by either your PC's Hardware (the physical parts that make up your PC) or the graphic settings you have applied within League of Legends.
By following these solution guides, you can usually fix Bugsplat issues on your end and get back to the Fields of Justice. These solutions will assist you in changing some aspects of your machine's configuration to help League of Legends run smoother and to avoid crashes.
Special Note: Please make sure after each attempted solution you first play a Tutorial Game or Custom Match without other players (bots are fine). Doing these tests in non-player games will help to make sure a fix was successful before joining games with other players. (You don’t want to accidentally receive leaves or ruin games before the issues you are experiencing have been fully resolved).
If you are experiencing Bugsplats and/or the game client is crashing, please try each of the following Bugsplat Solutions:
1. Make sure your Video Card Drivers are up to date:
We have a step by step guide available for this process here: Updating your Video Card Drivers
2. Update your DirectX:
You can find more information about DirectX, as well as a step by step guide to updating it here: DirectX Suggestions
3. Make sure you have all available Windows updates:
You may need to reboot your computer several times to install them all. Return to Windows update after each reboot until there are no longer any updates to install:
http://update.microsof*****m/
4. Try Disabling your Anti-Virus Program(s)
It's very common for Anti-Virus programs to block certain files associated with League of Legends. This step isn't intended as a permanent fix, merely as a troubleshooting step to determine the specific cause of your problem. If you disable your anti-virus program(s) and the issue goes away, then your Anti-Virus Program is most likely blocking League of Legends from running properly. In general, we don't suggest operating League of Legends with an Anti-Virus program active on your computer unless it has a “Gaming Mode” or options to allow all League of Legends processes to continue running without interruption.
5. Disable any Programs that Use an Overlay (such as: Xfire, Mumble, Ventrilo,TeamSpeak, or Skype):
Programs that interact with and can potentially put stress on (aka: overlay with) the League of Legends client can sometimes cause issues within the game. By disabling these programs and then trying a custom match you can determine if the problem is coming from one of these programs.
6. Change your In-Game Video Settings (If you're able to get into game)
Changing your video settings can often help the game to run more smoothly on your PC. Go to the Options menu and select “Video” to change these settings.
The following are recommended, minimal settings that can improve and optimize the way the game runs on your computer:
Settings: Auto
Resolution: Your Desktop recommended Resolution
Windowed Mode: Full Screen
Character Quality: Very Low
Effects Quality: Very Low
Environment Quality: Very Low
Shadows: No Shadows
Frame Cap Rate: Stable
To determine your desktop resolution:
Right click your desktop background
Select Properties (or Personalize in Windows Vista and Windows 7)
Select the Settings tab
Your desktop resolution is listed under Screen Resolution.
A SPECIAL NOTE FOR THOSE USING INTEL GPU'S (Graphics Cards):
If you're unsure if this pertains to you, please feel free to submit a Support Ticket and include a Dxdiag (see below under “If you Continue to Experience Problems”) and we'd be happy to assist you:
Development is currently aware of an issue with Intel GPU's that causes Bugsplats specifically when loading our Autumn Summoner's Rift map. We are working on a fix for this to be released as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please try the following:
A) Play a Custom game and be sure to select any map other than the Autumn Summoner’s Rift map. If you receive a Bug Splat error, the above fixes are more likely to resolve the issue for you.
B) If you don't receive a Bug Splat, try avoiding all matchmaking where map selection is random. Instead, play the normal map on Custom games.
C) Roll back to the oldest available drivers for your graphics card and test whether that fixes this issue in a Custom game. If this does not help, then repeat the process up to each newer driver available.
Please note, however, that this option is very time consuming and may not be best if you need an immediate fix.
Still Experiencing Issues?
We are sorry if the above steps did not clear up your Bugsplat issues. Please contact our support department and we would be happy to assist you to the best of our abilities. In order to get you the quickest and most accurate support for your problem, please provide the following information in your ticket:
• A DxDiag – Click here to learn how to obtain a Dxdiag
• A Process list – Click here to learn how to obtain a Process list
• Your most recent r3d log – Click here to learn how to obtain a r3d log
By submitting your logs to us when you crash, you can help us to resolve common issues.

3. Subject/Title: Graphics Crashes and Troubleshooting
Guide:
League of Legends is always adding new Champions, graphical updates, and particle effects. As such, it's very common for graphics cards to have issues after new updates. These issues have can cause a wide variety of in-game problems. The following are common symptoms of graphics problems:
• Your game crashes on the Champion loading screen
• The ground in-game appears completely black
• You're having issues zooming in and out
• You receive a Bug Splat error
• You're crashing with a d3dx9_39.dll or direct3d error
Solutions:
Disable Anti-Aliasing
Anti-aliasing on your graphics must be set to off or automatic detection for League of Legends to run effectively. If anti-aliasing is forced on, you may experience various graphical errors.
• Changing control panel settings on nVidia cards
• Changing anti-aliasing settings on ATI/Radeon cards
Verify your graphics card is Pixel Shader 2.0 compatible
If the graphics card in your computer is an old model, or has a dedicated video memory of less than 64MB, it may not be Pixel Shader 2.0 compatible. In this case, your video card may not be Direct X 9.0c compatible, and is below min spec. You should try updating your graphics card drivers, but if you still receive an error message at the loading screen, you may have to upgrade your video card in order to be able to play League of Legends without graphics problems.

4. Subject/Title: Improving Lag, Latency and Ping
Guide:
Many players experience lag in many different ways. Many times player experiences it as a delay on the commands they give to their champion. Other players can even lose their connection to the server repeatedly during a game.
These problems are all due to high latency between your computer and our servers. Latency is simply the time it takes for one piece of information from your computer (like a champion command) to reach our game servers. It can be affected by many factors including but not limited to: limited bandwidth, packet loss and network congestion.
Lag can also be caused by heavy load on our servers. If other players in your game are experiencing the same spikes and latency, then the servers are likely under heavy load. You can display your latency in-game by pressing CTRL+F.
Symptoms of High Latency:
• High ping on loading screen
• High MS revealed after pressing CTRL+F
• Delay on input( moving, casting spells, typing )
• Unable to move while things happen around you
• Game does not update then moves very quickly
• Frequent disconnects
Not Latency Problems:
• Low FPS (Frames per Second) - Troubleshooting Low FPS
• Game Crashes - Graphics Crashes and Troubleshooting
• Firewall Error - Configuring your Firewall
• Long load times
Solutions:
Special Note for those on College Campuses
Many players that play on college campuses experience lag. If you are on a college campus we may be able to provide your network administrators with special instructions to help them improve League of Legends on the network. First get permission from your IT department and we can contact them via e-mail to help them setup your network for the optimal League of Legends experience.
Move away from a wireless connection
Wireless network traffic is literally sent through the air. It bounces around and goes through walls. Occasionally this causes it to become lost. When this happens your computer has to resend the information which causes a substantial delay. Strengthening your wireless signal can help reduce this problem but all wireless signals will have this problem to some degree. An Ethernet cable is the cheapest and most effective investment you can make toward improving your connection. Make sure you disable your wireless adapter when moving to a wired connection.
Steps for disabling your wireless adapter:
1. Access Control Panel through the Windows start menu
2. Click on Network and Sharing Center3
3. Select Change adapter settingson the left5
4. Right-clickon your wireless adapter
5. Select Disable
Close any bandwidth intensive programs
All network connections have limited bandwidth. This is usually what you pay for when selecting a plan from your Internet Service Provider(ISP). As an example, a typical DSL connection is 7Megabits per second (Mb/s). When you use more than your maximum bandwidth your latency will drop. If your network is shared ANYONE running these programs on your network will affect your performance.
Some Common Bandwidth Intensive Programs:
• BitTorrent programs: BitTorrent, uTorrent or Azure
• Voice over IP programs: Mumble, Skype, Ventrilo or Teamspeak
• Video Streams: YouTube, Instant Messenger Video Chat, LiveStreams (own3d, xsplit, etc)
• Steam Game or Patch Downloads
Restart your network hardware
Like your computer, network hardware will get sluggish if it has not been rebooted in a long time. Usually this takes weeks or months to happen but some routers or modems need to be rebooted more frequently. Take the time to unplug your modem and router for 30 minutes. Then reboot your modem first and let it load before starting your router. It is also a good idea to reboot your machine after following these steps.
Bypass extraneous network hardware
Sometimes lag or disconnects can be caused by faulty network hardware. To eliminate this as a cause it is a good idea to try temporarily bypassing hardware that is not required. For instance, many home networks utilize routers, switches or hubs. If you can bypass these and connect directly to your modem via an Ethernet cable you may be able to identify an error in a piece of hardware.
Disable your firewalls
Firewalls work by filtering all incoming and outgoing network traffic. This filtering process takes time. Usually this is not a problem, but some firewalls that become misconfigured or corrupted can add significantly to your latency. Having multiple firewalls on a system can also lead to latency problems as the firewalls will “fight” over the connection. You can read more about disabling your firewalls here.
Contacting your ISP
After completing these common fixes you may need to contact your ISP. Many times there are problems with connections that require a technician. You can easily identify an ISP issue in the following ways.
Run a speedtest
1. Visit
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
2. Select a server close to you
3. Compare the reported speed to the plan you are paying for with your ISP.
4. If the speed test reports a lower speed than what you are paying for. Call your ISP and tell them they are not providing you with the correct speed.
Check for packet loss
1. Press [Windows Key] + R
2. Type cmd into the run box and hit OK. You should now have an open command prompt that is a black screen with white lettering.
3. Type: ping
Google –t
4. Hit Enter
5. The window will now start giving you updates based on packets it sends to google’s servers.
6. Wait for a few minutes and notice if you experience any lost packets: Request timed out.
7. Press CTRL+C and you will get a summary of the data. The average time should reflect the time from your speedtest. Packet loss should be 0% for a wired connection and below 1% for a wireless connection.
8. If your packet loss is not 0% then contact your ISP and inform them that your connection is dropping packets.
If you continue to experience problems
Please feel free to contact our support department. They will be able to assist you further. In order to get the quickest and most accurate support please provide the following information in your ticket:
• A Network Analysis - How to obtain a network analysis
• A document containing information on the configuration your network. - How to obtain a NetworkInfo.log
• An explanation of all your network hardware. (i.e. Are you connected to a router? A college network?)
• Router Brand and Model#
• Modem Brand and Model#
[Advanced] Setting up Quality of Service (QoS)
Many consumer routers have a special setting that will allow you to prioritize certain network traffic. This setting is usually NOT required to have League of Legends run properly. If you do not configure the QoS settings properly, you may actually end up slowing down your League of Legends experience. A few examples of situations where QoS may help are; you are on a shared connection, you have very low bandwidth or you have multiple computers attempting to play League of Legends at the same time. However, discussing how to set up QoS is outside the scope of this article. You can find a very detailed guide here.

5. Subject/Title: Improving FPS
Guide:
Over time, some League of Legends players experience seemingly random drops in frame rates. Although the causes vary greatly, here are a few of the most common issues: a patch was installed incorrectly or implemented a new rendering technique, you have installed a new piece of software and it is slowing down your system, or you may be in need of a driver update.
Troubleshooting FPS (Frames Per Second) Problems
Symptoms:
• The game appears choppy.
• The screen freezes for small periods of time.
• FPS is lower than 24.
Latency Problems Commonly Mistaken for FPS Issues:
• The game experiences delays or stops receiving input.
• Your champion appears to teleport around the map.
• The game runs in fast motion.
Solutions:
Like a car, there are small things that each person should do to keep their PC in top shape. When you are experiencing FPS issues, tuning up your system is one of the easiest ways to increase performance. Many of these tasks can be performed through free software packages.
PLEASE NOTE: The recommended 3rd party software in this guide was created by (and is maintained by) 3rd Party Companies that are not associated with Riot Games. Therefore, Riot Games cannot be held responsible for use of any of these programs. This is not meant to scare you away from the software – we just want you to know that we are not the makers of the 3rd party programs listed below and therefore do not endorse or support them any official capacity.
Update your Video Card Drivers - This is the most common solution to FPS problems:
Manufacturers of video and graphics cards frequently release bug fixes and optimizations for their cards. These optimizations come in the form of drivers which you can download from the manufacturer. (You can find a guide to video card drivers here). Getting the most up-to-date drivers for your graphics/video card is the most important thing to you can do to improve your frame-rate.
Change Game Settings - This is the second most common solution to FPS problems:
The Video Options you choose in-game have a large effect on your FPS. By selecting less complicated video rendering options you can improve your FPS. To access these options once in-game press ESC and select Video:
(You can view a detailed description of these settings at the bottom of this guide.)
Settings for best performance:
Settings: Auto
Resolution: Your Desktop recommended Resolution
Windowed Mode: Full Screen
Character Quality: Very Low
Effects Quality: Very Low
Environment Quality: Very Low
Shadows: No Shadows
Frame Cap Rate: Stable
Wait for Vertical Sync: Unchecked or Checked (depending on hardware).
Scan for Malware:
Malware builds up on players’ systems. Unfortunately, it is usually installed without your permission and is intended to steal personal data. There are many free scanners available on the internet for home use that effectively remove malware. Although we have no affiliation and can't be held responsible for the software we do recommend one of these free programs known as Malware Bytes:
Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download
It is also recommended that you consider removing software such as Microsoft Security Essentials or Spybot Search and Destroy. These applications do remove malware but also have a real-time protection component that slows down many systems. It is fairly common that these programs will end up doing more harm than good.
Uninstall unused Programs:
Many of us install programs to either try them out or use them for a specific purpose, but most of us also forget to later remove programs that we never ended up using. Please take the time to go through your Add/Remove program list to remove any unwanted or unused programs. Doing so will free up more system resources for the game to use.
If you are unfamiliar with uninstalling programs in Windows feel free to reference this guide (on a 3rd party site):
ARCHIVED: In Windows, how do I uninstall programs? - Knowledge Base
Modify Graphics/Video Card Software Settings:
Nvidia comes with the Nvidia Control Panel and ATI comes with the Catalyst Control Center. Both of these programs allow users to set up graphics profiles that can sometimes interfere with the frames per second in League of Legends. This can occur sometimes after a driver update or Windows Update. Please read this guide to learn how to return them to the proper settings:
http://support.leagueoflegends.com/e...roubleshooting
[Windows Vista or Windows 7 Users] Disable Aero:
Aero is a new feature of Vista and Windows 7. It included many new advancements in the Windows Interface including: transparent windows, Win Key + Tab option, and window transitions. Unfortunately, all of these new features tend to slow your computer down. Aero tends to have an especially negative impact on netbooks and laptops.
To Disable Aero:
Start > Search "Aero" > Windows Color and Appearance > Advanced appearance settings... > Select non-Aero theme.
Set Windows to Best performance
Older systems may not be able to render the graphical features of Windows and those of League of Legends at the same time. You can turn off many of the advanced graphical features within Windows to improve your system performance. While older machines will see the most benefit from this step, even relatively modern PCs may see an increase in performance by changing this setting.
1. Right-click Computer.
2. Select Properties.
3. Select Advanced System Settings.
4. Select the Advanced tab.
5. Click Settings under Performance.
6. Select the Adjust for best performance radial
7. Move to the Advanced tab.
8. Select the Adjust for best performance of: Programs radial.
Remove Resource Hogs:
Every PC has a limited number of resources. Each program takes up RAM and CPU time. If you have many programs running they will use resources that could otherwise be used by League of Legends to speed up the game.
Common Resource Hogs
Anti-Virus: Norton, Symantec, Kapersky, McAffee, AVG
Browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome
Chat programs (especially video chat): Skype, MSN Messenger
Bloat ware: This is software installed on your computer by default alongside other programs (such as TeaTimer – which is installed with Spypot Search and Destroy). Most of it provides no value and simply consumes resources.
Check for Heat Issues:

Disable All In-Game Sounds:
If you are still having FPS issues after the above solution, you may experience a performance boost by disabling your in-game sounds. You can do this through the Sound menu, by clicking the "Disable all Sound" box.
Advanced Solutions
Clean your Registry:
Each time a program installs it makes modifications to the system registry. Over time the registry can become bloated. Usually this is not a problem, but if this has occurred on your system it is actually an easily resolved problem. Again, there are many free programs available on the internet.
We recommend (but do not officially endorse) CCleaner.
Free Download Link:
CCleaner - Standard
Defrag your Hard Disk Drive:
Hard drives work like filing cabinets. When you constantly add and remove files from them they get disorganized and it becomes more difficult for your computer to locate the correct file. Files are sometimes split into small pieces and scattered among the drive. To resolve this problem you need to de-fragment your main hard disk. Here is a guide by Microsoft to performing this on a windows machine:
How to make your computer run faster: 6 tips to increase PC speed
LolClient.exe Tweaks:
1. Set LolClient.exe to "Low Priority" after logging in. At the start of each game set "League of Legends.exe" to High Priority. You can view a guide on modifying your priority here.
2. Ctrl-Alt-Del at the beginning of the game and close LolClient.exe. (Warning: This closes the PVP.Net chat and requires you to re-login after the game is over)
Disable CPU Throttling:
1. Open the Power Options through your computer's Control Panel
2. If your Power plan is set to one of the battery-saving options you will need to change it to a performance option. After making sure you have a performance option selected, click on "Change plan settings".
3. Click on "Change advanced power settings".
4. In the Advanced settings, scroll down until you find "Processor power management". If it's not there, or there is not a Minimum and Maximum processor state below it, then your CPU either does not support throttling, or it cannot be configured through Windows. In these cases, setting the Power plan to a performance setting may be sufficient. Otherwise, set the Minimum and Maximum processor states to 100%.
Detailed Descriptions of Ideal Graphic Settings:
You will notice each card has Best Performance/Visuals categories as well as balanced. Balanced are the settings that I have found work well with most Dedicated Graphics cards such as the Nvida Geforce 6800 or better.
Resolution:
Best Performance: Match desktop resolution or 1024 x 768
Best Visuals: Highest available that matches the aspect ratio of your monitor.
Balanced: Match desktop resolution
(This is the number of pixels you will render on the screen. 1024 x 768 is 750,000 pixels. However 1920x1080 is over 2 million. )
Character Quality:
Best Performance: Very Low
Best Visuals: Very High
Balanced: Medium
(This is the quality of the models that are rendered in game. By lowering this setting the game uses lower poly models.)
Environment Quality:
Best Performance: Very Low
Best Visuals: Very High
Balanced: High
(This affects the quality of the terrain in the game. Higher settings add details such as blades of grass, flowers, mushrooms, lamp posts and other such flourishes to the map.)
Effects Quality:
Best Performance: Very Low
Best Visuals: Very High
Balanced: High
(This affects the quality of the spells and abilities in the game. Lower settings restrict the number of particles rendered by each spell or ability cast.)
Shadows:
Best Performance: No Shadows
Best Visuals: Very High
Balanced: No Shadows
(This affects the quality of the shadows on the characters and towers. Lower quality results in jaggy or non-existent shadows. Higher quality creates smoother shadows.)
Frame Rate Cap:
Best Performance: Benchmark, Stable, 25FPS
Best Visuals: Benchmark
Balanced: Stable
(League of Legends is capped at 100 frames per second. Benchmark allows League of Legends to run at max frame rate. However, choosing stable or 25 FPS may produce a more consistent FPS on older graphics cards.)
Wait for Vertical Sync:
Best Performance: Unchecked (for most cards)
Best Visuals: Checked
Balanced: Unchecked
(This option restricts League of Legends frames to your monitor refresh rate (usually 60HZ). Some graphics cards run very well with this setting but many can generate higher FPS by leaving it off. Leaving the option off may produce tearing on your screen where a shifted line appears in the middle of your screen. For the best visuals you should leave it on.)

6. Subject/Title: Preventing Frequent Disconnects
Guide:
During gameplay your computer maintains a constant connection to the League of Legend servers. If your computer doesn't hear from the servers for a specified amount of time(generally 15-30 seconds) it will consider the connection closed. Therefore, maintaining constant contact with the server is very important. Any outages or long delays in your communication with the server will cause a disconnect. While disconnection can sometimes be due to server instability, if it occurs often it generally implies a problem on your network.
Common Symptoms:
• Occasionally lose connection to chat or receive Session Closed errors
• Get an in-game message that you have disconnected or timed out
• Session Closed after "Skip Waiting for Stats" screen
Solutions:
Troubleshoot your connection
Disconnects have two major causes. The first is an unstable connection and the second is a very high latency("laggy") connection. The most common resolutions are moving away from a wireless connection and removing bandwidth intensive programs from your connections. Luckily we describe both these processes in our Improving Lag, Latency and Ping guide.
If these fail to resolve your problem, please take the time to follow the other instructions in that guide. Tweaking your connection for maximum performance is the #1 way to resolve disconnections.
Restart your modem and router
Like your computer, modems and routers can get sluggish after long periods of extended use. Restarting them can flush their caches/memory and help them perform to full capacity.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Switch off the modem followed by the router and also unplug their power cables.
3. Wait for 30 seconds.
4. Plug the power cords back into the modem and the router but don’t switch them on yet.
5. First turn on your modem and wait for it to initialize(let the lights become stable).
6. Then switch on the router and let the blinking lights stabilize.
7. Now turn on your computer or your gaming console connected to the network. You should now be able to access the Internet.
Please note that for power cycling, it’s important that you switch on the devices only in the specified order.

7. Subject/Title: Server Busy Error Message
Guide:
Occasionally when logging into League of Legends, you may receive a Server Busy error.
Upon repeated login attempts, this error message may change to a Login Failed for Unknown Reasons error. When you encounter either of these, it could indicate one of the following problems:
• There’s an issue with your computer's ability to accept the security certificates from our login server.
• Our servers are currently overloaded or experiencing technical issues
• There’s an error with your login credentials
• Your connection to our login servers is being blocked
If you're logging into the correct server and there were no errors on the website, proceed to the following. Keep in mind that our Client relies on Internet Explorer for a great deal of information, so regardless of your default Browser, be sure to make all suggested changes in Internet Explorer:
Solutions:
Make sure your windows clock is synced. An out of sync clock can cause many issues with certificate verification, even when not dramatically off. Running a quick resync will often fix this right up:
1. Press [Windows Key] + R
2. Type cmd
3. Press Ok
4. Type net start w32time (This will start the time sync service if it is currently not active)
5. Press Enter
6. Type w32tm /resync (This will resync your clock. If it fails you may manually have to set your time AND date)
7. Press Enter
Make sure your Internet Explorer Options are properly configured (Updating to IE9 and running the Microsoft fixit file are the most common fixes from this guide):
A guide to configuring these options can be found here: Windows Troubleshooting Guide
Verify that Internet Explorer is not set to Offline Mode
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Press Alt+F to get to the File Menu
3. Make sure Work Offline has no Checkmark next to it. If it does, click it to turn this option off
Temporarily turn off Certificates in Internet Explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Press Alt+T to get to the Tools menu
3. Select Internet Options
4. Click on the Advanced Tab
5. Select “Restore Advanced Settings”
6. Uncheck "Check for server certificate authentication"
If you have a more updated version of Internet Explorer you may have to uncheck these settings instead:
(1) "Check for server certificate revocation"
(2) "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
(3) "Warn about certificate address mismatch"
*Warning - After successfully logging in, be sure to revert these settings back to default!*
If your issue still persists after all these steps, another process may be interfering with the smooth operation of League of Legends. The most common of these are firewalls blocking the connection to our login servers. For information about configuring your firewall to allow traffic to our servers, reference the following article: Your Guide to Firewall Configuration

8. Subject/Title: Maestro Error Message
Guide:
For more Maestro General Information click here
https://support.leagueoflegends.com/...al-information
Maestro errors are almost always caused by a firewall or anti-virus blocking League of Legends. We have written a very extensive guide to properly configuring your software for League of Legends. Many players do not even realize that Windows may have three or more firewalls/anti-virus that came automatically installed on their system.
Windows Firewall:
Windows Firewall is a component of ALL modern day Windows Operating systems. It was introduced in Windows XP Service Pack 2 and has since been included in all versions of Windows. This makes it the most common firewall in use today.
3rd Party Software Firewall:
These are consumer firewalls. These tend to be the most aggressive firewalls and cause most of the problems that players experience. There are many free and very good firewalls available today. Many times Anti-Viruses such as Norton Internet Security or McAffee include firewalls with their software. Here is a short list of some of the more common 3rd Party Firewalls.
• Norton Internet Security
• McAffee
• Kapersky
• ESET NOD32
• IOBit BitDefender
• AVG
• Avira Antivir
• ZoneAlarm
• Peerblocker
• Avast
• Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials
Router Firewall:
This firewall is implemented on most consumer grade routers. Linksys, Belkin and many more brands all include built in firewalls in their routers. These firewalls are less restrictive, however, and usually not the cause of the problem (with a few exceptions). Usually you can disable the firewall under the "Security Settings" or similarly named tab in your router configuration page. Occasionally you may have to forward ports on your router to play League of Legends.
Solution:
1. Temporarily Disable/Make exceptions in your Anti-virus/Anti-spyware software
2. Temporarily Disable/Make exceptions in your Firewall
3. Disable process protection software.
4. Make sure you're running software in Administrative Mode/With admin priviledges
5. In Windows Vista/Windows 7, double check your Account Controls

9. Subject/Title: Connection Failure: Unable to connect to the PVP.net server Error Message
Guide:
Many of our users have been experiencing issues logging into the PVP.net client.
This is due to our Log-in servers recently changing the way log-ins are authenticated. If you are having this issue, it is most likely due to having a firewall blocking a connection with our log-in server or League of Legends has not properly been added to your exceptions list.
Solutions:
Syncing the Clock in Windows
Syncing your clock will enable us to authenticate with your system and log-in servers.
7. Press Enter
