2 days ago been on pain killers and patches. Happened when i was being stupid doing hardcore made up weight lifting moves i made up.
When should i start working out again when the pain goes away, or should i just keep going and avoid my back.

Just do whatever does not require serious back lifting.

Why don't you just train naturally?
Lifting only gives you bigger muscles while training naturally makes you faster, stronger, and more enduring. Some dry muscles look way better than lifted ones.
Rest. You don't want to fuck your back up for the rest of your life. Ice your back and then use a hot compress or a heating blanket to increase blood flow, also my personal recommendation for when I fucked up my lower back is to take muscle relaxers and just watch movies. A week of using a heating pad and muscle relaxers fixed my issue, though when I started again I went at it like I was starting over again completely.
