Well, if you're using them for soundwhoring an FPS, definitely get a 7.1 surround headset. I know Razer makes one.
I just want suggestions on good gaming headsets. Preferably in a decent price range. No 400$ shit.i will mainly be using them for AVA to be a sound whore and sometimes xbox.

There is no such thing as a 7.1 surround sound headset. It's just surround sound emulation and any headset can do that. Anyone who claims otherwise is a dumbass. If you compare headset and find when has better "surround" it just mean they have a better soundstage or their drivers (the thing in the cups, not software drivers) are just simply better.
7.1 has always been the amount of channels (8 channels for 7.1, 7 normal speakers and an LFE speaker) in a hi-fi set-up and even if you were to try and cram 7 speakers and a subwoofer into a headset, it would be too close to your ears for it to make a difference.
Basically that. Also, I wouldn't recommend buying any "Gamer" or "Gaming" headphones. Most are just gimmickey.
You can't ever really go wrong with Sennheiser:

If you want a quality headset that provides surround sound, comfort, and durability, you're going to want to buy either a Tritton headset (I have the AX 720 and they still preform amazing even after a year and a half) or any astro gaming product. I wouldn't recommend anything else.
Here is a link for the Trittons (I'm assuming you're on PC):
TRITTON Pro+ True 5.1 Surround Headset for PC and Mac | TRITTON Audio
Another Note - if you are on PS3 or XBOX and feeling exotic I would recommend the 720+ since the provide 7.1 Surround Sound. These are my next buy.
TRITTON 720+ 7.1 Headset for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 | TRITTON Audio
