Where did you learn... all this?

    Hey everyone,

Alright, I understand this will gather a lot of hate. As in, a lot. A leecher asking for help like this, so I accept that some people won't take too kindly to this.

I'm no programmer, all I really know is Batch and AHK, and a tiny (yes, tiny) bit of Java. As you can understand for anyone who lurks a forum without knowing the language, this is confusing.

I know, "Go learn the language then,", but I was wondering, hence making this thread: What languages are most commonly used here, and where did you learn them?
If you taught yourself, can you at least provide any tips as to what you got support from? If you used a book, tutorials, etc., what and where were they?

If this does piss anyone off, seeing someone asking for help who has not made too much of an effort themselves, I'll say this in advanced. Sorry, but thanks for the help.

Edit - If you're wondering why this is in RotMG Help, that is due to this being specific to RotMG, and the hacks posted in this forum. I frankly don't care about Call of Duty aimbots right now.

You won't get any hate for having a desire to learn. You will get hate for expecting people to do stuff for you.

The game is programmed in ActionScript. All we have access to is obfuscated byte code. I recommend downloading this, decompiling the client, and looking through the various folders to try to make sense of what's going on. Check out the mods in the mod selectors and try to understand why certain lines of code are being inserted to certain locations. It helps if you've done work in assembly and know how the stack works.

There are many helpful people on the forums if you ask questions and not make demands.

In long term, it doesn't really matter what language you learn, you need to get used to programming and then you can do it in every language.
Short term it can be hard to switch languages. If you want to make scripts for realmrelay, learn some javascript (it's somewhat similar to java) and a bit of java.

I personally learned alot from thenewboston (youtube), he has over 3k videos on almost every possible subject.

Why hate? There is no point in hating someone who wants to learn
I started to learn from books and from tutorials on "old" websites (when internet was not so developped)

Years after, i was stuying programming stuff in school. And now its my job.
If you want to hack ROTMG, well.. Do what Nisuxenz said.

If you look into ActionScript 3 you can understand many Object Oriented Programming concepts
Due to a recent DMCA takedown attempt we had to remove Faintmako brain. Please do not paid attention to what he say or do.

It's actually 'thenewboston' where I learnt my 'tiny bit of Java' from. Half way through his Beginners tutorials for it, so ~40/80 if I remember correct, was just taking a break to look for new / better ways of learning.

But, now he's gotten a vouch, I'll be sure to continue with his videos~

Best way to learn is by doing. Learn the basics and just start experimenting. Don't know how to do something in particular that you would like? Break down the problem into smaller manageable parts, do some research, and hack away.
Be careful, stray too far from the pack and you'll get lost.
