It's because the servers use the accounts databases of Minecraft.net. Since you're using a spoofable name, it's not going to be a valid name in databases...... nor a password.

Search on youtube, there are tons of videos explaining this.

I run a tekkit server and I have a premium account, but my friend downloaded your cracked version and every time he tries to login it says: Connection lost, Failed to Login User not Premium.....

On your server, open the file server.properties and set 'online-mode=true' to 'online-mode=false'.
Restart the server, and your friend should be able to login normally, without problems!

What error are you getting?
Try opening command prompt and type in 'java' (without ' marks). If it tells you that this command isn't found, follow these steps:

1. Find the path to 'java.exe' on your computer. It will probably be in this folder: 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin'
2. Copy the path and go to your Control Panel
3. Open 'System'
4. 'Advanced system settings'
5. Open the 'Advanced'-tab
6. 'Environment Variables
7. Add/edit the 'Path'-user variable
8. Paste in the path
9. Reboot your PC and try the launcher again!

I hope this solves your problem!

That's a pretty strange error... Could you maybe post a screenshot or something?

That's because you are using the wrong Java to open the file. Try this:

1. Right click the launcher
2. Open with
3. Choose default program
4. Browse...
5. Go to the path explained in my the previous post
6. Select 'java.exe'

Now it (should) work just fine.

Try again a few times. This problem happens sometimes on some computers. I never had this issue, but I know one of my friends has.
