If you want a good portable camera I recommend a decent Micro 4/3 camera. Olympus has a very good range. Lenses are a bit expensive but ones in the stock kits are actually really good for static car photography and photography in general. Plus they're almost as portable and easy to use as point and shoots.
    THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST

I recommend you a Canon 650D, It cost less than $900 in Singapore but not sure about your price tho. Anyway a Canon 650D has a rotating display and also has a touch screen. Here's a few shot from my Canon 650D

We have the same body. I actually find myself not using the touch screen at all. I'm so used to dials and buttons that using the touch screen takes longer. Am I the only one?

Hahaha, was just about to buy one of those. Too bad about there being no image stabilization.

Trust me. At 1.4, you don't need it.

With my next body, I'll be switching to Nikon. For a while I was just considering selling the one I have and switching to their 1.4, but the shots I've been getting with the Sigma are too good to leave, so I'll probably get the Nikon-mounted one when that time comes.

That's how good it is. A bit heavier, but if you're not scrawny, you can't tell a difference.

In the last photo, I made the light source brighter to take the focus off of the background and give the car all of the attention!

    Thanks man! @Mokou-Sama
    What software/program was used?

I might plan on also getting a gopro for some of the amazing drone shots being taken. Good idea or no?

Just used Photoshop but I'd recommend using Lightroom. Which I don't have yet.

The drone sounds fun but for what you pay and how much you'd use it would make the whole idea not worth it.
Well, unless you're made of money then I'd say go for it! I'd say just get an entry level DSLR as they're pretty capable of anything.
Although usually DSLR's are chunky and a bitch to carry around sometimes, it will most likely inspire you to get into photography.
    It's also a great hobby

That or something similar to what Doc said as I assume that wouldn't be heavy or too big to carry around wherever you want yet still take good quality photo's.
