How to get OP on Minecraft Servers

I found one server, griefed it with a friend, then it got patched the next day :/ It's really hard to find a server, took about an hour to find a vulnerable one.

Yea, it's only easy to find on newer servers with inexperienced server owners who do not put on a plugin to prevent this hack.

Funny you say, the server was opened for about a week and didn't have much players and had not too many plugins. My friend did uninstall all their plugins but they had a back up even after saving the maps etc

You did everything 100% right then. The server you scanned with NMAP revealed no vulnerabilities in their ports.
