Well, I installed Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate today (with a legit master key, felt good to rip Microsoft for $12,000 haha) so I was going to use this project as a learning experience for using VS to create C++ apps instead of my usual (using Notepad++ with my handy plugins), but when I got it installed then it downloaded over a gig of updates, then another gig of help file updates, etc etc etc.... so here I am hours later. I had already got a lot of it done in Notepad++ though when I decided to stop and see if I could do it in VS.
I completely agree.
What I believe he means to imply is that too much source has been revealed openly on here lately, hence why hfs modding is now patched along with other things (though you can be certain there will be a way around it released soon).
IMHO, source to hacks on here shouldn't be posted openly where unregistered users can come read it (which is putting it right in Nexon's hands to patch). Still my opinion, but I think a smarter approach (to prevent or at least DELAY patching) is, for example: Nunya wanted to make an updated console... he PM's Hell_Demon and tells his intentions.... Hell_Demon knows nunya is a legit member of the community and sends him the source and helps him, etc.
Or, as another example, Hell_Demon posts a thread saying "any member who wishes to have a copy of the console source to learn from or build upon, send me a PM and if I see you are a known member of the community I will send it to you".
That doesn't mean that they can't still answer questions on using it in the release thread or that it won't still be released to the public to USE, I just think source code for the hacks should be better guarded.
As for binds, visual mods, and tutorials on creating mods/hfs edits, that stuff should be shared and taught so that other people will learn and step up to contribute.
But, as I said, that is all just MY opinion, but I interpreted his post to say basically the same thing. And as for me using Nunya and Hell_Demon as an example scenario, there was no disrespect intended and since it was Hell_Demon's console source, he has the full right to release the source or whatever he wishes.
