While the reaction may have been over the top, it's not the fact that the bitch brought a bubble gun to school that earned her the suspension, but the fact that she threatened to shoot another kid with it. I don't know the context in which she said it, seriously or as a joke, and under what circumstances, but schools are anal about this shit due to their zero-tolerance policy. So it's not a surprise.

Not only would most of the laws have no viable impact in the first place, lawmakers are arrogant (or ignorant) enough to believe that criminals would even follow them. Chicago as a prime example, has astounding restrictions on firearms, and yet still retains of the highest murder rates in the country. If an individual in such a state of mental deterioration that they are liable to commit murder, gun restrictions won't be much of an obstacle.
