For the ultimate procastinators (like myself), I have bolded the things you should read.
Background
About a month ago I created a thread called 3 Months from Now, where it was a "challenge" for you to accomplish your goals you set for yourself, 3 months from that post date. I have sort of forgotten about it, and I'm sure everyone who wanted to participate has also forgotten (as 3 months is a long time). So I've set out to create this game, where procrastinators (such as myself) can hold each other accountable and actually try finishing our goals, rather then leaving it to last minute.
I don't know about you guys, but I feel like shit when I'm sitting at my desk at 2am, doing my assignment which is due at 9am. You could've done the same thing, 2 weeks ago without the stress. Or maybe, when you are talking to your friends, and you ask them if they started their assignment, and they say "Yeah, almost done, just need to proof read it"... You feel like a failure. Procrastination is a b*tch, and its slowly killing us.
Introduction
This game is called Your Life, where we can input our weekly goals into an excel spread sheet. With the ability to set our due dates, rank our tasks based on its priorities, see a auto updating progress bar and of course the satisfaction of crossing off a completed goal.
How to get started
1. In this thread, @ mention me and say you want to join. If you change your name,
let me know.
Code:
@Allura count me in
2. Download the interactive excel spreadsheet
3. In the spread sheet, put down all the goals you want to accomplish this week (feel free to add more during the week). Ensure you put a priority, as the priority helps calculate the progress bar.
4. Once you complete a goal, Use to drop down to mark it as complete
5. At the end of the week, we re-download the spreadsheet and start fresh (if you have unfinished goals, add them to the new spreadsheet)
Everyday I will @ mention those who want to participate. You are required to screenshot or tell us the percentage of your progress bar (you don't have to screenshot your goals, as that is personal).
Join in whenever you want! There is no particular sign up date!
Progress bar (Each week ends on Sunday, new week on Monday)
Roughly what your progress bar should look like each day. However, the end goal is reaching 100% on Sunday. Everyday, our time is used up differently, so we may not get enough time to work on our goals.
- Monday - 14%
- Tuesday - 28%
- Wednesday - 42%
- Thursday - 57%
- Friday - 71%
- Saturday - 85%
- Sunday - 100%
Daily Update Format
You don't have to use this format, but something similar
Code:
Day:
Progress Bar:
Description:
Rules
- Don't fake your progress bar. Obviously there is no consequences but you are only lying to yourself.
- Post a screenshot/tell us the percentage of your progress bar everyday with a short explanation. Example: if your score falls under, you could tell why that happens (maybe you added more goals so the progress bar went under, maybe you got busy etc). If your score is almost/equal to the daily goal, maybe explain how you feel accomplishing your daily goal.
- If you don't manage to hit 100% at the end of the week. Add those goals onto the following week's to do list.
- Try to at least set 7 goals per week. The more you have, the better!
- If you change your name, let me know, so I can update it on the mention list.
- Serious comments on this thread only!
