compress the .lta to .ltb with modeledit. Use Ltb2x to decompress ltb to .x aka directX metafile. Import it to Milkshape3D and export it to C4D or Obj... don't know anymore if milkshape supports c4d.
You could also use Noesis to export the charmodel by view ( need to be .ltb ) but it will use it#s uv-mapping and bones.
There is a third way, well said the best way to get the whole file without any informationloss back into the modelsrcfile, but i can't share that, else everyone will ripp off combatarms models.
