ok so im trying to save some money on a optical drive and a harddrive
so i can get some more money towards the new build im planning
so my question is that could i use a old hard drive on my old computer
what about the files? i really need those back...
Do i need to format the harddrive to use it?
the drive already has w7 and stuff installed in it
since my computer died im unable to retrieve those files...

With USB ? If USB is slow, it's gonna take a lot of time . I recommend you to use DVD.
Yes, go to BIOS, change primary boot device to USB(or w/e you're going to use) and boot your PC.
It will ask you what kind of installation do you want to do(Repair Installation won't delete your files).

Just remove the old hard drive, set it up in your new system, and boot her up.
It'll be the exact same as your old system, W7, files and all.
I personally have 3 different Operating Systems on different drives in my rig, and simply boot which one I want.

im trying to use this cable, for my monitor now the Dvi-D goes to my monitor and HDMI goes to the GFX card will it work?
