[Suggestion / Help] Outside download links!

Hey MPGH,

I saw in the rules ( Yea I read rules ) the following rule:
- No outside links or links to downloads/attachments, use the upload system instead. (Permanent Ban)

Are you kidding me? So if I make a design and upload it for everyone to ********e I need to upload it here seperate....
Thats kinda weird so are you never allowd to use external download links or is it in this case allowd?


So not I know I will never share free downloadable stuff cause this is tottaly damn, Otherwise if you guys are scared
for virusus and stuff or other shitty stuff make a rule like this:

- External links are allowed only when its on ********E & A virus scan is included in the thread, Other upload services are NOT allowed..



So I can understand the decision I think but oke this was my 'Help' why that isn't allowed with direct my opinion. So I hope somebody will help me out from: Why is this not allowed? & Is my example about design stuff allowed? ( Or maybe a idea! )

A virus scan doesn't always detect viruses.
This rule is implemented to prevent people from sharing viruses, keyloggers, etc.
Even an outside download link that provides a legit hack could be dangerous, as it could include an auto-updater that would then download malicious content to the user's PC.
Uploading it on MPGH with the approval system we have going on now ensures that files are thoroughly checked before regular users are able to download them.

Long story short : The safety of our members is key.

Oke thanks for your awnser, Still in my opinion needs the user to take care about there computer and look what they download and not the forum, The forum can provide a rules with virus scan include wich is a little proof about the software but never always.

So yea in my eyes 50% shitty rules that i need to do more 'work' to share something like design here for free!

It's not that hard to upload files, and the forum has a legal responsibility to its users. If you believe that you could improve the rules, you should mention Dave or PM him.
