If you put care into a 970, you can get over 60 fps on everything 1080p, maybe your setup was bottlenecking the card?

As far as vram goes, you need enough, any more won't do you any good, anything above 2gb is unnecessary

Completely serious, if you have good enough specs + run in fullscreen + have nothing else open, no way you will dip under 60

Just get a GTX 970/R9-290X from craigslist. All you have to make sure is that it's still in warranty and that they can give you a receipt if you need the warranty.

Found one for $225. Planning on getting this one. Thanks for the help <3
