Not about hacks, but about downloading updates!

My friends installed the game from the disc version and is at the point now where he needs to install the updates, the problem for him is that it downloads a little bit, it disconnects from the Rockstar servers, then completely restarts the update. So the qustion is, I have the digital version from Rockstar, if I simply upload my .exe's and the entire update folder, would this work with his game? Because it doesn't appear that he's going to be able to play if he has to download from Rockstar.

Sounds more like the rockstar servers being as shit as usual. The issue has happened once but months ago that it would crash every update. But some say that you need to just restart it as it downloads a little bit then crashes. Not sure though.
