Well the anime was, but the manga was well drawn so no, it didn't get bad till about 3 years ago.

When Allen's teacher died the series went into what is called "filler hell". Basically they discarded everyone but the protagonist and they kept introducing new characters that had the equivalent of filler arcs.(that is, all significance starts and ends within the arc and is never mentioned again).


So recently they started down the "we have to end this path because I have too much talent to waste", so instead of Allen fighting the Earl.....they exposition the shit out of it and then they hug.

The exposition is so fucked up that I'm pretty sure the author said "I be they never saw THAT one coming"
