Fish escaped during fight:
A lot of people on the steam forums are complaining about the game releasing fish in the middle of a really long fish fight.
They are talking about a timer of sorts that force the fish to be released if they fight it for to long. (some people like really long fish fights and hey why the fuck not)
So, What is this timer thing all about, What is happening that causes this?
Behind the scenes when a fish is hooked it has several factors that are taken into account that make up the applied force to the hook in the fishes mouth.
When you hook a fish, the applied force spikes up really high.
When you start reeling in a fish and you apply tension on the line, you increase the applied force a small amount, though this isn't enough of an increase to keep this value at or above its starting value because while you are maintaining force on the hook the value continues to drop more then you can compensate for over a long fish fight.
Every time the fish causes slack on the line the applied force goes down by a large amount, so if you are fighting any fish for a long time this value will go down in large chunks every time a fish runs a different direction and you swing your rod around to compensate, the behavior you experience would feel similar to a timer, the applied force consistently goes down over time while fighting a fish.
If you wait and fight a fish long enough, the applied force drops below a certain threshold and the fish ai triggers an escape, this makes it so you cannot fight fish for long duration's, the timer everyone is talking about is the applied force mechanic.
This usually only happens with larger, stronger fish, which require long fish fights, with smaller fish, the applied force does not seem to drop below certain values even after long duration's, even after it drops down to a very small value the fish don't run off, so you don't see this happen much with them.

Note: All the info I am listing below exists within the code of the game.
This info contains my own speculation regarding how the mechanics may work for these items along with what I have deciphered from the code.
Chum Deliverer's
From what I gather you will be able buy various chum launchers with various capacities, which you can shoot various types of chum ammo in order to attract more fish to a location, probably a slingshot version and possibly an air compressed version

Fish Nets
Pretty obvious what these are for.. ffs (picking up fish)
There will be various types of fish nets, each will have a max and min fish size they can pick up.
Boots
Lets you walk into the water a bit, probably goes with the rod holders/alarms/bells - see below
There will be various sizes of boots that will allow you to go deeper into the water.
Clothing
Different clothing will decrease your casting distance.
There will be various types of clothing for different seasons of weather.

You will be able to buy a lodge at each location (if available), there you will be able to store additional equipment while you are fishing a single location, you will be able to store your boat there (if the lodge has a berth for boats).
Cars
Cars will have there own equipment storage.
Cars will effect the travel costs when switching between locations.
Cars will have different classes of boats they can haul, with a max weight they can haul.
Boats
your boat will also have its own equipment storage, I expect there to be multiple Classes of boats you can buy, with various seating capacity, speed, etc

Tournaments:
As you all know there will eventually be tournaments in the game, here is some details for how they will work
Tournaments will:
have several scoring types:
TotalWeight
Total weight of all target species caught during the tournament.
TotalScore
Each fish you catch will be assigned an amount of points by the server based on various factors.
Your total tournament score will consist of all fish points combined.
TopCountWeight
Example:
Top 5 catfish, catch 5 catfish that weigh more then everyone else's Top 5 catfish.
TotalWeightByLineMaxLoad
Total weight of all target species caught based on the max load of your line.
have specific Tackle requirements.
have their own chat channel.
have entrance fee's.
last a set amount of time.
have Min/Max level requirements.
have Min/Max participant requirements.
have Rewards including, Items, Gold, Silver, Experience, Titles, Achievements

Not sure if they are implementing kayaks yet, but they will be adding boats and kayaks at some point and this map is made for them
You will be able to fish from the pier where the lighthouse is, at the exit of the channel leading out to the lake/ocean (I believe it is a lake)
You will be able to fish from the floating dock in the middle of the lake

I am almost finished making videos and screenshots for all maps (Including unreleased michigan), the videos will contain all the fishing spots for each map and each peg, they will be listed in the document I originally posted in this thread.
Side info:
I wanted to address the details in the document regarding fish chances and the baits / lures etc, etc, as I feel a lot of people probably don't understand how to use the info to get the best results, so let me give you an example of how to achieve this.
The fish chances do not work off a percentage, they are more of a guide to knowing which lure can catch which fish so you don't waste time fuckin about.
so lets give you a run down,
say you wanna catch uni large mouth bass, so you check the baits / lures for ones that match LMBassU, even though it says 0 for the fish chance it means its extremely low chance vs the other fish you can catch with that lure/ bait.
As I said its not a percentage based system its more of a weighted value system, so if you see LMBassU with a value of 0 that means you have a chance of catching a uni with that bait / lure, if the bait / lure doesn't list that fish type, it doesn't catch them.
so to sum it up.. find a bait / lure that has the least amount of competing fish an the highest chance for what you want, then its upto you to find a good spot and good time/weather, simple right?

I suggest downloading the videos for best quality, watching them on google looks like shit.
These fishing spots are more for the lure / jig fishing rather then bobber fishing, but they should give you a major indicator for where fish hotspots are.

Awesome work man. i'm currently fishing North Carolina for Unique Redear Sunfishes. Typically fished on the left side. I don't see fish boxes in the area I normally catch Uniques.

Good stuff you've got here. The Michigan update that came out recently says in the patch notes that they tuned "lure and bait attractivity" for some fish. I'm curious as to what exactly they changed when they say this, as in, did some of the weighted values change a bit or significantly? Did new fish types get added or removed as possible catches with some lures, etc.

I don't have any resources to post atm to show you anything visual, but I have stumbled on some data that suggest they will be adding jetski's to the game as one of the boat types you may be able to purchase, wouldn't that be fuckin' awesome?
There may also be yachts along with some other vessel types.
