Not 100% true. They can make the announcements permanent but it never needs to be. I mean the database leak where all the passwords were reset doesn't need a permanent announcement. After a few months, most would have already changed their passwords. If not, I'm pretty sure you'd be stupid to not use the "forgot my password" function. But then again, after looking at the support section, it could be an understatement and apparently kids on the internet are really dumb

No. AFAIK it was up for at least a month in read. It got unstickied towards the start of February but anyways, it was on the MPGH front page so it would've been unlikely that people wouldn't have known. And most who didn't had made another account to get their account passwords changed (coz they apparently don't know how to use the Forgot my Password feature)
