A little improvement to help noobs

I've only been a member here for about a week and just been given an infraction for something that's a little trivial, I didn't benefit from it and a little headsup telling me not to do it again would have been more than enough fir a 1st time offence.

I posted a request for a Lynda account in the giveaway section as it was the closest section in the marketplace, I wasn't posting a "would like to buy" or "would like to sell" or a "would like to trade" post, I was purely asking for help and as I did ask for a freebie, the giveaway section was the obvious choice.

I used to be staff in a number if we'll known warez forums and I understand you have to follow (and uphold) the rules, but giving an instant points deduction for a 1st infraction in somebodies 1st week here is a bit of an overkill.

Somebody mentioned in my thread that it was the wrong section so I apologised and actually went off and purchased what I needed. Surely a slap on the wrist should have sufficed? I do like this forum and spend a lot of time reading the numerous threads but it could out other people off visiting if we have a police state here which goes against everything this board stands for!

I understand what I did wrong accept my punishment though, just wanted to voice my concern and hope in the future mods may be a bit more sympathetic to noobs
