Directx11 (Win7) in most cases improves FPS in most games.
Though when the game is designed using Dx11 like BFBC2 is; it uses us much more of what's available using the current technology. Hence why the game has a well rendered atmosphere in DX11 and generally better look than when running it in DX,9 it looks rather atmosphere-less but still nice IMO.
If you're using a DX11 enabled GPU but are finding it hard to get a high FPS rate, then a work-around for this can be going to your 'My Documents' > BFBC2 Beta folder and changing the settings.ini file.
Near the bottom of the .ini file you'll find Dxversion=auto or something similar. Change auto to 9 and get a good FPS boost. -- Also in Steam, change the Launch Options for BFBC2 and paste
+fullproc into the field. This allows the game to run using all your processor cores if you have more than one I believe hopefully improving performance all round.
The game runs with good playability using this Dx9 trick on a 260 GTX, Q6600 @ 3.01GHz, 6GB RAM, Win7 x64-bit. Whilst running in Dx11 the FPS rates are a little choppy for my liking on my rig.
When in the heat of the battle I receive 40FPS and when looking from a birds eye view of the battle I get 65FPS. When in small areas with short draw distances I can get up to 90FPS.
