Picture Help

Hey there guys i was jailbreaking my itouuch and there was an option saying that i caould add a custom loading picture but the restrictions were
had to be a PNG file
had to be approxemetly 320><480 pixels
less than 100k bytes
everything works beside the 100k bytes. my picture is 270000 bytes
so does anybody know how to make the picture size smaller and still keeping the details???plz help me!!!

Reducing the quality is the only option i think
