Recently I have been a subject of a few failed scam attempts and there are people I know that got scammed, so I thought I would put a quick guide together to help safer trading on MPGH.
1. If you are approached to sell you an item, (say as a a result of your interest or putting an advert here to buy an item) first thing ask if they are MPGH user. If not .. stop right there and do not buy from them ...just block them. The most likely reason they are not MPGH member is because they were banned in the past and they just looking for victims to scam.
2. If they say they are MPGH user - ask for their user name and the link to their username. Then ask to authenticate, either by replying to your advert or by asking them to write on your wall or to PM you. If they don't or refuse - stop right there and block them. Even if they say they are mods or admin here - do not believe them as there are a lot of impersonators.
3. If all cool and all checks out - have a look at their profile, how long they have been on MPGH and their vouches. Pay close attention who vouched for them. If all vouches are very recent from newly joined members - the alarms bells should be ringing loud and clear and DO NOT GO first with them.
There are so many great and reputable sellers here that have been operating for a long time, do not risk with unknown for the sake of saving a few bucks.
Just remember that it it is too good to be true - then it most likely is.
Would be good to hear other tips for safe trading from others.
Do not get scammed and happy trading.

Honestly, once middleman are coming back scam rates are going down heavily (:
Whoever gets scammed is just stupid imo, deal with people who you are comfortable with, talk to them and make up your opinion about them
kinda shitty with steam accounts as they can get recovered easily, even if you have OE.
scammers will always find a clever way to scam people
IDK. A lot of the stuff dealt here is of very questionable "morals and values" People need to understand that there is a risk...
Thank you for this! Really helpful guide.
