Post I have 2 choices. Which should I choose to upgrade to?

I suppose ill just get straight to it.

    Current Build:
    GTX 970 SLI
    Intel 4770k Processor
    Corsair Vengeance 32GB Memory
    Corsair H110 Cooling Unit
ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula Motherboard

I'm debating on whether I should upgrade my graphics card(s) from my current SLI build to a single GTX 1070 or GTX 1080
    or
Upgrade my Motherboard, Processor, Memory and CPU cooler all at once instead of just a GPU switch

Which do you think I should go with?
Tough choice for me but for others it may be filled with certainty.
Yes, i'm one of those guys.

GPU all the way without a doubt. Your CPU is still very very much relevant. The rest of your build is solid.

In my opinion, GPU switch would be the way to go.

Yeah, I vote GPU switch. The 4770k is still a fine CPU, and who wants to re-buy 32GB of RAM?

Gpu switch seems the most reasonable solution with ur build

Replacing a 970 SLI would probably only be worth it if you get a 1080, I am not quite sure replacing those with a 1070 would actually be worth it. It does depend on what you'll do with the current GPUs, I guess sell them, but the question is if that's even worth it depending on what you'll get. Anyways good luck with your choice!

much appreciated! I have considered a 1080 instead since its only a couple hundred more than the 1070. If i'm paying that much I might as well go all in

One thing to consider is that SLI is often very buggy/not supported at all. He would see much greater performance with a single 1080.

One other thing to consider would be to ask yourself what types of games you would play which would warrant a 1080.

For example, I had a 960 but went to a 1070 because I was having bad frame drops on Overwatch and a few other Steam games.

Definitely a GPU switch, Even a high end i5 CPU wouldn't be a bottleneck to your system while gaming, your CPU is more than capable enough for the foreseeable future.
