Actually people keep posting this link in relation to hotels.com and eh.

First of all, the link references Sam's Club which people are still using/enjoying here and have for quite some time.

Second, it doesn't say that anything negative happened to someone as a consequence of this incident at Sam's Club. It just says that some woman somewhere was missing her rewards. Well duh.

People have been dissing Hotels.com rewards since before all of this started happening. I'm definitely not saying I would personally recommend using them now but this link proves nothing.
