Happened to my friend. He ordered MacBook 12 last year, refund well good, got his money, using it almost every day. Then he decided to order Apple Watch and pay for it (No refund )and he gets email from Apple, saying that:

So they locked his Apple ID, so he decided to call them, they send him to investigation team and they told that you had "issues" with delivery and Apple refunded you full amount, but you are using "lost" device, so 2 options, we bill your CC or we send you UPS return label for it.
So he just returned it and got his Apple ID unblocked.
Just be careful, don't use same Apple ID. He was stupid and payed for it

So what's the best practice then? Use your real Apple ID for the refund, but then create a new Apple ID when the MacBook comes in?

How can you share purchases and stuff, is it safe to add family sharing for the new ID?
