Upgrade or New Desktop?

Yo Guys,

I'm playing some new games lately and my pc is getting some difficulties running everything on 60 FPS so i was thinking about buying a new pc but then I thought maybe an upgrade is cheaper and will make my pc good enough for the newer games

My Specs:
Intel Core i5 3570k (overclocked i think not 100% sure :P)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 (i know its bad)
16 gigs ram
and some other not rlly important stuff, using SSD btw but HDD for games

my price range would be around 1000$

That is if his power supply supports it and/or other components, you don't want to bottleneck your PC too much now either

Yeah in your situation I would do whatever I can to keep the entire PC in tact, but upgrade the GFX card for better performance for gaming. If that still doesn't suit me, I'd upgrade the CPU. But still, there no way of avoiding the upgrade of that GPU.

A GTX 1060 would go nicely with that CPU of yours if you're on a somewhat tight budget, otherwise go for a GTX 1070 instead, (don't advise you to get a GTX 1080 unless you're into 4K gaming, which you shouldn't be since 2K is more than enough for a great gameplay experience. The GTX 1070's price-performance ratio is better than the GTX 1080's anyway). As for your current CPU, you don't need to necessarily upgrade it since it's a processor capable of achieving nearly 5.0Ghz per core frequency, depending on what's your cooling system and how well it performs as a whole, of course, but that's about it. Hope I helped you out to make a good decision. Also, may I know what's your motherboard as of now?

Given your current specs, the max I'd go for is a 1070.

I'd play safe and choose a 1060, however double check your PSU and see how much power it supplys

When you're replacing your cpu and gpu, you probably need to replace your mobo and PSU as well. If it doesn't fit, you're going to need a bigger case as well.

considering the cpu you have a 1060 6gb would be the sweetspot for 1080p gaming

maybe even a 1070 if youre into high refresh rate stuff and wanna drop some cash, but youll be getting to a point of diminishing returns for 1080p gaming keeping your cpu in mind

Your limiting factor is your GPU

Get a new one, if that doesn't help upgrade your CPU

I have a 3700k with a 1070 and it still works quite well on the games I've tried.

I'm not sure but I think I have a 550 watt golden supply from what I can remember few years ago

GTX 1070 sounds great ill look into it!
