Dear moderators of the marketplace

Look at how many valid scam reports are occurring every day, shouldn't something be implemented to stop scammers from doing their thing so easily?


I suggest that to be eligible to open a marketplace thread a user should have at least 150 posts and/or other requirements such as been a member for at least 1 month or they can get rid of this restriction by buying premium member etc. in that way scammers will take muuuuch longer to open their scam threads and create new accounts that are eligible to open marketplace threads.

Please take this into consideration i think this is the BEST way to at least reduce the volume of scammers and prevent innocent people from losing their money every day. Also it will make your jobs a lot easier, sorry for wall of text, again please take this into consideration.

Which is that not only would that restrict the marketplace, but it would serve absolutely no purpose as there have been scammer's of every post count(what you're stating also encourages people to just spam throughout the site to achieve the required post count of 150 lol).

Sorry, but in my opinion there will be far too little reward for the cost of a multitude of activity in the marketplace.

Though thanks for your suggestion as any suggestion that benefits MPGH is worth hearing out.

I realise there are scammers from every post count, but the majority of them have under 100 posts and are fresh accounts, occasionally you get the high rep exit scammer but not that often . It doesn't have to be post count, it can simply be restricted to how long you've been a member for. i.e at least 2 months to prevent the spamming, (even though that may not prevent exit scamming). If not that, at least something should be implemented to stop so many scams from happening, a lot of new users are getting scammed that don't even know to report it and i know a lot of people will just say "oh its their fault, they were stupid enough to fall for it" but at the moment the market place is not safe at all for newer users. how are they supposed to know how things work?. I know this will come at the expense of mpgh, but there has to be something put in place to make the marketplace more difficult to access for people with the intention to scam.


Regardless, thank you for taking my post into consideration, i hope something will be done in the near future to prevent as many scams from happening, there will always be scammers, but the less there are the better and safer this community becomes.

Doing stuff like increasing the post count or adding a limit on how old your account should be before posting a thread will, in my opinion, only delay the scammers and not stop it. It will most likely just create more problems such as more spamming.

I agree there maybe should be more things done about it to make sure that there aren't people getting scammed but at the end of the day its just up to the person themselves to take precautions before dealing with someone else. Although it isn't the best thing for new members as everyone at one point is a little gullible, there isn't really much more that can be done.

We just find more people who spam the forums to get up to that post count.

The best thing atm is just preventing guest viewing of the Market Place since there are certain scams where they don't even have a MPGH account

What if you altered his suggestion? We have the elite selling section in the marketplace, what if you limited who can post where. What if the premium members can only post in the elite section and everyone else can only post in the non-premium section. Premiums cannot post in the non-premium section. Therefore, the premium sellers (which can be deemed to be slightly more trusted) will all be in one area, whilst the non-trusted members will be in one area. If you want to take the risk to deal with the non-trusted members, you can.

That was originally the whole point of the elite section, though the requirements to post in there are FAR higher(you need at least 2,500 posts and a couple months on the site).

The only reason some threads don't meet those requirements is to fill the void of activity in there at some times.
