New owner needs old owner’s info to transfer warranty, but if it’s a refunded phone I wouldn’t provide him any info cuz it would be risky. Since you sold it through craiglist, just ignore him.
So I recently sold a refunded pixel 2 XL on craiglist and buyer contacted me that he is unable to register (whatever that means) and is telling me that I need to deregister the phone and then he can register.
I am not sure what registering he is doing and such but can anyone help me how to proceed on this?
Need help soon.
Does the new owner need any details of the old owner for warranty? The phone I sold was never opened ever.

Isn't it weird that one needs previous owner's info? I did a chat with Google (using alternate Google account) and asked them about a hypothetical situation wherin how warranty woud work If I get a phone from eBay or so. They told me that that new owner needs to just login using their Google account and contact Google for warranty.
Part of the appeal of using CL is you never have to deal with the person again once you get the cash in hand. You always meet at a random place and you use a disposable number like textnow for contact so you don't have to worry about the person calling you about anything. There's no reason to have any further contact with this person.

Lol their device there problem. Tell em you sold it as is
you never claimed to sell with warranty. this is the buyers problem now for not asking about this before. you are not obligated to help them and if they try and chargeback, they won't win because that is not a reasonable reason to return a phone. the phone was sold brand new and that is what they got. you are not google they should not expect extended support help from you especially since you did not even mention it.
Yes I just mentioned brand new sealed pack. The buyer assumed I am owner (which I was) and told me he sold that to his "friend" (I think he bought just to resell and that guy whom he sold tried to register for warranty purpose) and that friend says it is registered in my name.
I asked him what's the error he is getting or where it says my name and he says he doesn't know anything and he contacted me since I told him I am owner of phone. He actually accused me on text that people scam by reporting Phone stolen to which I told him I did not report anything as anyways it was Google edition phone so there is no carrier involved. He hadn't replied back yet but If he does I will tell him to sort with Google as I am just Flipping and reselling for profit.
Another twist here is that I didn't really get money from the guy and instead Traded with an iPhone X verizon. I am just concerned he doesn't report the iPhone as stolen which will black list the phone I have.
Google needs the original receipt when it comes to dealing with warranty.
I always ignore people that request that type of information. Just ignore him my dude.
They just need the order number and order email. Not a huge issue at all.

I want to know this too. Looking forward on selling refunded google pixels.
