Hacker could have used a VPN and also the list of account passwords and emails got spread around to hundreds of people.

This recent breach was not caused by keylogging, it basically took the info you typed in an logged in with and automatically sent it to the hackers. There is no real way to prepare for such a thing except deleting clients when you feel they seem fishy (for example this client kept logging you out and asking for your birthday)

Copy+paste will not work.

It's very improbable they hacked you on steam as it has many layers of protection. The version that was infected was the first version of CC that came out after MOTMG released. It was the one by Darao that logged you off everytime you left the client.
