PC build finally coming together.

Finally picked up a better GPU to replace my old 960. Decided to upgrade to a EVGA GTX 1070 Ti and will be overclocking it aswell. Last week I also switched from a 60hz monitor to a 144hz and will never switch back, the difference between 60-144 is night and day. Also went ahead and bought a new Phanteks P400s TGE/Tempered glass edition, saw this case and decided to upgrade from my old shitty $30 case and wanted to make the switch to tempered glass.

So my build so far will be running
CPU - i5-4690k (4.5ghz OC)
GPU - EVGA GTX 1070 Ti SC Black Edition
RAM - 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport clocked @ 2000mhz
Case - Phanteks P400s TGE (Black/Red)
Mobo - GA-Z97X-SLI Slot1150
PSU - Kingwin ABT-850MM 850w

Just excited to be running with a pretty good GPU since I haven't upgraded my system in like 2-3 years.

Anyways, what specs does your guys PC's have?

i7 7700k or something runs at 4.5 turbo and can be oc'd to 5ghz for like ~$300 if you got the money

I got the same gpu, you could of went with a i7 but that cpu is still pretty Damn good. Try and get a stable 4.5ghz on it, is also depends what cooling you got.

I had a 4690K and it was indeed a great CPU... But you can get better now. You'd be better off with the i7 4790K, but the i7 4770K is cheaper and hardly any weaker and will still slot into your mobo.

Are you ordering these new or buying 2nd hand? If 2nd hand, could be a great deal if you're getting a discount. But new? You're hindering yourself with the Z97. I would recommend starting from scratch but keep the 1070 Ti.

if youre just building a pc then def go for the 8700k

depending on when youre building it waiting for the new 9 series might also be worth it as intel will most likely add 2 more cores

Built my PC a year and a half ago. Have a 7700k with the Kraken x62. Shitty MSI gaming motherboard, can't remember the name. Just a cheapo GTX 1080. Have 32gb of memory. 1tb SSD with a few other SSDs for storing random stuff. It's just a stop gap measure for a couple years until I have a better study setup.
