Which sites offer the most affordable server hosting these days?
Looking to open a server with my friends and stuff.

For this you'll need a dedicated computer running 24/7 at your home. Not everyone has a spare pc / is allowed to run it.

Yea you will. That’s why you are paying for the “computer”. Like $3 a month (depending on how large your server is, but OP just wants to play with friends so $3 a month is enough). Maybe should have specified you have to rent a Linux server

vultr is the best one imo. Get the $3.50 one or $5 one. Lots of server locations around the world. Of course you can get a minecraft server from minecraft specific hosts for about this price, but if you don't live in the US, then the connection to the server can be slow.

It's probably the best service you can get for the buck that comes with Cpanel which I find it very convenient.

I guess I read it wrong, but well you can still run a minecraft server using VPS hosting services.

You'd have to learn how to code with shell commands though

Im using skynode right now and it's working ok so far, but its a bit pricey for how much ram they give you.
