Counter Strike first released as a mod, not a complete game.

Later, Valve bought name rights of Counter Strike and published as a full game.

We all(most) know the game as Counter Strike 1.6, because latest update was 1.6 .

After 4 years, 23 March 2004, Counter Strike unfortunately released Counter Strike Condition Zero, which was a game will remain as a black mark on Valve's history.

Even the release was painful.

Condition Zero was partially story mode game, began to be made in Rock Entertainments hands.

After head of the studio left, Valve gave the game to Gearbox(Gearbox was creating additional packages for Half Life)

Gearbox decided to make a scoring system similar to Tony Hawk games.

But after Condition Zero wasn't ready at pre-determined output date, Valve took the game from Gearbox and gave to Ritual Entertainment.

Ritual entertainment decided to prepare the game all over, with a different story mode.

But when game finished and review copies sent to the media, game got extremely bad results.

Then, Valve took the game from Ritual Entertainments hands.

Valve later gave the game to Turtle Rock studios(Left4dead game was also made by Rock studios).

But after the game changed many studios, It released badly.

The same year, Valve decided to release CS Source game, when the Source game engine was ready.

Game wasn't different, only difference was that the game was made using Source game engine.

21 August 2012, Counter Strike Global Offensive.

Game was same, but graphics were updated and there were new game modes.

Game released also to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but we can't say game released mostly for console.

I got to global elite in csgo so that I could take the bomb in every get and while only playing dust 2 and only moving once I had hit a wwall because my other hand would be in my fat steamy bag of Chinese chicken curry
