.DLL File Editing

Hello, JlStepper here, I was wondering what program is used to edit .DLL files. I tried using notepad, just turned up as some language that isn't even English. (Squares, circles, etc)

I'm originally a Java Programmer, not a C++ Programmer so I don't really know much about it and what programs to use with it.

If someone could kindly explain what program I need to use to edit .DLL files, that would be great. I'm working my way up to making my own hacks and releasing in the future once I get more familiar with the C++ Programming language.

I use Frhed to HEX edit, but before you do hex edit, read the rules on it.

I think HexEdit is one, although you're gonna have to pay for it.

Is there anyway to convert it to a programming language rather than just Hexadecimals?

You mean leeching other people's hacks?

I'm not going to do that, I'm thinking of developing my own. : D

I mean I know Java, so C++ can't be that hard.
