It is a fame farming system that Jazz used to run where people would connect to a central server with k-relay that would automatically move them to the right server and make them follow a path around the god lands with a group of other boaters.

People are account stealing by telling their victims to do a /goto to join a boat, but it's actually the ip of their proxy server which yoinks your encrypted login details. With those, they can connect in game on your account as much as they want and suicide your characters and everything. Changing your password will prevent them from doing anything if you've connected to a malicious one.

Boats are not a thing anymore, however there may be some communities out there that may recreate the activity.
