I will also exclude all games where most of the difficulty is dependent on missing information for the player that cannot be “fairly” discovered in a sufficiently convenient way within the game (such as I-have-to-acquire-the-real-life-knowledge-on-how-to-fly-a-plane simulations).
Most of nowadays games aren’t challenging at all, and I have yet to see a AAA title which is (but, indeed, I do not play lots of those).
