As a new user, I've noticed it's pretty slow. This community is much friendlier and more willing to share knowledge than other forums, so maybe there's a lot of traffic.

If dave wasn't a cheap ass and spend more MONEY that he gets than it would be fixed. I hear from people he makes around 10k-50k in a week depending on the time of month. So its not hard for him to do it. Arun and dave are retired from what a few minions have told me. They only do this for fun.

How many plugins are there?
There are only slight changes in migrating php5 to php7

Also you gotta do something with that sooner or later.
MPGH is getting old and performance issues don't help it either.

HHVM should be easier to migrate to than php7 as it's based on php5.
Most of the stuff is the same.

1) We're not on Apache, and afaik haven't been since the beginning of MPGH. It used to be litespeed, but now it's nginx.

3) HHVM is dead unless you're using Hack. You literally need to use old versions in order to support PHP entirely. Even if we opted into an older version, which comes with considerable downsides, there's always comparability issues.

The best way to get performance improvements out of MPGH are from upgrading to PHP7, but that's not going to happen. Way too difficult. AFAIK MPGH has directly edited the vbulletin codebase, and this would be a pain in the dickhole to port to a new version. It would be absurdly tedious and time-consuming for the administrators.

We're better off entirely migrating to a new system. But that would more than likely kill MPGH. 100% it would kill MPGH.

also, what tf is upstream caching... lmao... you mean from the proxy to the primary server? it should store cache? or caching of actual pages, with etags and shit?
