No not at all, people normally need to know the imei to check to either see if a phone is compatible with their carrier, check if the imei is bad, and so on... So, its safe to give it out.
Looking to sell a phone I bought from eBay that was supposed to be unlocked but turned out to have a bad IMEI. This one guy where I'm selling it is interested but wants me to give them its IMEI. Is there any harm in revealing the IMEI if it's bad?

Definitely its good to hand out IMEI, the 3rd party company I work for always provide IMEI to verify the device profile
just open a return on ebay and get your money back.
Wtf does "bad" IMEI mean? It shows if it's unlocked or not?
