banks/credit unions are lame

I'm moving to a credit union and cancelling the bank account I opened when I was 16 because they constantly would fuck up.

Wanted to place an online order?

*Randomly cancelled by my bank and required I wait in some awful phone queue to get it approved

Made a mistake and moved money to the wrong account forcing my checking into a negative balance?

*Charge 36$ a day until they finally fixed the problem

Have money?

*Randomly hold $1700 for "possible fraud"



Anyways, I got tired of it and opened a checking at a local credit union.

yeah I transferred $4k~ and they are holding it for 6 days because it's a new account

I don't have bills or anything, nor could this had been prevented with a day heads up so I could transfer money from another savings account.

You might just have a rare good relationship with your bank. My bank is always hitting me up with random fees and ridiculous excuses to hold onto my money.

Bank of Montreal, they have outlets in the US

I have PNC. I haven't even had any issues with them. Also, if fraud is attempted on my account, they credit my account right away.

Credit unions are great when were talking about grown up things like mortages and loans...rates tend to beat out the big banks...all the other shit tho is trash
