Doesn't this mean that forgiving will hurt others? Is it still the good thing to do if it hurts others?
Forgiving in this way, is meant for revenge, yes.
But, I couldn't think of a way, any way, when you ''hurt'' someone by forgiving him or her.
If someone stabs you, because you've had arguements for months 'n months, and you still forgive him. Does it hurt him? Nope. You'll just make him feel worse.
He hopes that you will continue with the arguements, he'll hope that you'll do bad things in return for what he did. But what do you do? You forgave him!

Think about it, in a teacher's way.
My teacher is a total pain in the ass, and he hates me(he said that once to me, I rofl'ed IRL).
We had lots and lots of arguements, and the last arguement, I opened and closed the conversation with ''My apologies for what I did. And I forgive you for what you've done''.
He didn't said a word, and he was(and still is!) grumpy.
That conversation, took place 2 months ago.
